In my quest to try out as many beauty subscription boxes as possible, I stumbled across Medusa’s Makeup. I’m always searching for the hidden gems and lesser-known brands, so I decided to give them a try.
About Medusa’s Makeup
Medusa’s Makeup is a vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, makeup brand that created a subscription box for their fans.
Glancing through their store, they have a wide variety of products. They have everything from lip oil to fragrance to baked eye shadow to crazy socks. There is no shortage of bold colors or bright eyeshadow palettes either.
After my experience with Eyescream, I was hesitant to try this because I already have some basically unusable palettes. But what’s the point of online shopping if you don’t take a little risk now and then?
Pricing
They only offer one size beauty bag, which makes it pretty easy to hop on their site and order. Pricing is straightforward. It’s $22.95/month whether you pay for one month, six months, or twelve months.

What I Love
- Good value
- Vegan, Cruelty-Free, and gluten-free makeup
- Features brands other than their own
- Most of the items have been pretty wearable
- Enough products to create a new look with each bag
- Excellent pricing for add-on items
The Less Desirable
- No Customization
- Some of the items I received are branded Medusa’s Makeup and distributed by them, but manufactured by some conglomerate in China
- To cancel you have to e-mail customer service (unless you subscribe through Amazon)
Verdict
I was pleasantly surprised! I expected to get a bunch of wild makeup, especially after reading some of the reviews. They did a better job curating a complete look than some bigger name boxes I’ve received.
Based on their bold store products, I would not have normally ordered this bag. Fortunately what arrived was more balanced, and overall I was satisfied. I haven’t seen add-on deals this good from anyone outside of Ipsy.
I’m a little on the fence about the fact that some of the products are “distributed by” Medusa’s Makeup, which makes me wonder how many other brands sell the exact same product. Just to be clear I still like and use what I received. The neutral eyeshadow trio is my go-to for travel.

Alternatives
LiveGlam – For a comparable price, they offer multiple collections to choose from each month. They tend to be bold and bright, but there is usually at least one more subdued option. They are also vegan and cruelty-free.
Eyescream – A good choice for the bold make-up lover, especially those that love shimmer. I would not recommend them to the average person, especially someone working in an office setting that wouldn’t be able to use the product regularly.
