Love Make-up? Want to experiment with bold new looks and the latest trends each month? LiveGlam is the make-up box for you!
About LiveGlam
LiveGlam is a make-up brand that put together a subscription service for their fans that will send you gorgeous palettes, luscious lip colors, and/or beauty tools every month. The brand is vegan and cruelty-free.
LiveGlam curates several collections each month that members get to pick from before they are released to everyone else. The collection may fit with a theme, like Spring Break or Glam Cowgirl. Other collections may be brushes only or lip products only.
Unlike some of their competitors, they only offer one box size. In their shop they have additional collections and mystery boxes for anyone wanting a little more.
Pricing
- Monthly – $21.99 and is pay-as-you-go
- 6 Months – $119.94 total, which works out $19.99/mo
- Annual – $239.88, which is $19.99/mo (with one free box)
Shipping will set you back $3.29, which makes the box just over $25 month-to-month. Not bad!
Membership gives you a small discount in their store and they also offer a points system to earn free products as a thank you for your loyalty.
Example Boxes
It’s safe to say the March and April palettes are not for the feint of heart! Scorpio has almost no neutrals to balance out the intensity. Typical Scorpio, right? Flocking Fabulous has a couple good neutrals to make it possible to use daily or to glam up for a night out.
May’s Cowgirl Glam box was much more wearable than I expected and my favorite LiveGlam box so far. I have a new obsession with lip oils, so I was thrilled to try their brand!
Pros & Cons of LiveGlam
What I Love
- Great value
- There is a collection of brushes each month if none of the makeup appeals to you
- Vegan and Cruelty-Free products
- Liquid lipsticks have amazing staying power!
- Option to take a credit instead of the box
The Less Desirable
- Feature their own brand exclusively
- Eyeshadow Palettes may be too bold and adventurous for people who prefer neutrals
- Sets of lip glosses tend of have at least one that won’t work for me
Verdict
This subscription is ideal for a makeup enthusiast that loves to play with color or sport a bold look. As much as I appreciate a colorful palette, I don’t wear the bright, bold colors anymore unless I’m going out.
Now that I’m a boring adult, I don’t need a new palette of “going out” eyeshadow every month or my look refreshed as often.
As a result, there hasn’t been a full collection I wanted each month. Even the lip gloss set option always had one or two shades that wouldn’t work for my skin tone. I really don’t need more brushes right now, so I picked the most fun option most months even if it was a little impractical. Overall, it has been enjoyable.
I also ordered from the store once so I could get a better feel for the product. I got the Confessions of a Nudist Palette, a liquid lipstick, and a gloss in the shades of my choosing. While I enjoyed the boxes, I was glad to get something more subdued.
I was impressed with the quality. Their liquid lipstick has some real staying power without feeling overly dry! It has minimal transfer through eating and drinking, even without a primer. I went to bed with it on it (yeah, bad, I know) and there was minimal transfer to the pillow case.
I will definitely order from them again. As I said earlier, the subscription is better for the playful makeup lover than the causal makeup user. A quarterly box option would probably be ideal for me. Maybe one day they will offer it.
Alternatives
Medusa’s Makeup – Both vegan and cruelty-free, they are a direct competitor. While they also offer bold palettes, their subscription box was a little more balanced than I expected and surprisingly wearable.
Petit Vour – If you want to go beyond makeup but stay vegan and cruelty-free, this is the box for you! Each month they send out beauty products from various brands aligned with your values for you to try.
Eyescream Beauty – A competitor in terms of adventurous makeup, but likely less wearable than LiveGlam. They offer a budget-conscious option that’s around $16 a month with shipping which may be worth taking a peek at if wild makeup lights you up.
Not in to Commitment?
If you’re a gambler, LiveGlam offers a mystery box each month which is a total surprise!
Happy Picks by Mia offers one-time makeup boxes with a little customization and I was extremely happy with my purchase from her Etsy Shop.
